SOLVED! - LG G3 Screen Flicker And Fade

While many Android users view LG G3 positively, the device is also known for having several faults such as LG G3 screen flicker and fade. Restart

Despite its simplicity, restart is good at taking care of bugs on Android devices and LG G3 is not an exception. If you notice the screen of your LG G3 flickering and fading, restart the device as soon as possible. 

• Step 1: Press and hold the Power button.
• Step 2: Hit Power off and restart then confirm your decision.

Disable Auto-Brightness

All in all, auto brightness proves handy if you don’t want to constantly change the screen brightness as lighting conditions change. • Step 1: On the home screen, swipe down from top to bottom.

Boot Into Safe Mode

• Step 1: Press and hold the Power button then Press and hold Power off.
• Step 2: The moment you see Reboot into Safe mode, hit OK to confirm your decision. 
• Step 3: After your phone finishes restarting, the phrase Safe Mode should appear on the bottom left of the screen. Once you see that phrase, you must determine whether the issue persists. In the case that the device no longer flickers and fades, it’s highly likely that an application is the underlying cause. For good measure, you should remove third-party apps, especially those that could change the screen brightness. 

Wipe Cache 

• Step 1: Press and hold the Power button then hit Power off.
• Step 2: Confirm your decision and allow the device to shut down all the way. 
• Step 3: Press and hold Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time. When you see the LG icon, let go of the buttons for a second then press and hold them again. 
• Step 4: In System recovery, use Volume Up/Down buttons to navigate to Wipe cache and press the Power button once. 
• Step 5: Confirm your decision if prompted. 

Perform A Factory Reset

• Step 1: Press and hold the Power button then hit Power off.
• Step 2: Confirm your decision and allow the device to shut down all the way. 
• Step 3: Press and hold Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time. When you see the LG icon, let go of the buttons for a second then press and hold them again. 
• Step 4: In System recovery, use Volume Up/Down buttons to navigate to Factory data reset and press the Power button once. 
• Step 5: Confirm your decision if prompted. 

Visit A Service Center 

None of the above works? Then it’s possible that your LG G3 is having hardware issues and your best bet is to visit a service center. Have the device checked by employees at the center to learn the severity of the issues. Assuming that your LG G3 is still under warranty, you don’t have to pay a cent. 

Note: If the warranty is no longer valid and you cannot spare a lot of money, you could take matters into your own hands. 

• Step 1: Power off the device then remove the back cover, battery and other accessories.
• Step 2: Unscrew the screws using a suitable screwdriver, place the screw at a secured location and get the plastic cover out of the way. 
• Step 3:  Use a blunt item to lift up the camera connector, wipe the camera port carefully to remove dust and plug back the connector. Repeat the process for the display connector and its hub too.
• Step 4: Grab a piece of plastic, ideally as thick as a credit card, then cut out a small piece. The piece should be small enough to cover the camera connector. The moment the piece is ready, position it above the camera connector and put the plastic cover back.
• Step 5: Assemble your phone. 

Precautions:

• Static electricity from your body can damage internal components. As a precaution, you should wear an antistatic wrist strap. Alternatively, touch a grounded metal object before handling internal components.
• Small parts like screws can easily get lost so it won’t hurt to use a magnetic mat to hold them in place.
